Why Choose Our Program

The competencies achieved in the Crochet Guild Australia's course align with the Craft Yarn Council of America (CYCA). However, our training offers a unique perspective, focusing on the qualities and differences in Australian crochet practices.

Program Information

The program is divided into 2 levels. You must have completed Level 1 before you begin Level 2.

Level 1
Level 1 involves participation in a number of learning events as well as the completion of crochet samples to demonstrate your grasp of the fundamentals of crochet. There will also be written assignments arising from the learning events. The learning events focus on:

  • Teaching Techniques: Gain the skills to teach confidently, whether you're left-handed or right-handed.
  • Lesson Planning: Learn how to structure effective lesson plans.
  • Classroom Management: Discover strategies for handling diverse student needs.

You will receive a manual that will also become a valuable resource as you embark on your teaching journey. You will also be required to complete some teaching sessions and provide feedback from your participants.

Completion of Level 1 earns you an Instructor Certificate.

Level 2
This program will be done solely by correspondence/at home, and focuses on the development of specialised and more advanced crochet techniques. The program is designed as a self-learning program with the option to attend learning events offered by the Guild to help you develop the skills needed to advance your crochet.

The purpose of this program is to broaden your knowledge and capabilities beyond the fundamentals and apply your skills from Level 1 to these techniques. You will demonstrate this with the completion of more advanced crochet samples and written assignments.

You will also be required to complete additional teaching hours of the techniques learned and provide feedback from your participants.

Completion of Level 2 earns you a Teacher Certificate.
